What are the cabling modes of generic cabling and how to do a better job of generic cabling

Generic cabling has existed for a long time. From the telephone line to the current network cable and optical fiber, with the pace of time, the general cable has become a complementary relationship with the data center. As long as there is a data center, it must be supported by universal cabling. So, how many general wiring methods are there? How to realize management?


From the connection mode, there are two connection modes:


Direct connection mode


In this mode, only one panel is deployed on the link, also known as "single panel" mode. The RJ - 45 interface in front of the rack module is connected to the switch through jumpers, and the RJ - 45 interface behind the rack module is connected to the work area module through a horizontal line (i.e. twisted pair).


The advantage of this connection is cost savings. It should be noted that whether end-to-end detection can be realized is the key. Many electronic distribution frame systems in the market cannot detect the connection state of the switch by this method. The system cannot judge whether the jumper on this side of the switch is connected to the wrong port. In fact, the system does not have the function of full link detection. If only the jumper on the switch port is pulled out and the plug on the distribution frame is still there, the link will be disconnected, but the system cannot detect it and the administrator cannot know this situation in time. Similarly, if the wrong port is inserted or one end of the switch, the system will not be able to detect and prompt, and the distribution system cannot play the expected early warning role, which is meaningless for the administrator's daily maintenance and troubleshooting. Therefore, when we decide to adopt direct connection, we must pay attention to whether the system can detect the link of the switch. In fact, users rarely use this method in Europe and the United States.


Cross connect mode


Cross connect mode is also called "double distribution" mode. As the name suggests, it deploys two distribution frames in the link. In this way, as shown in Figure 4, the port of the network switch will have a jumper connected to the rear of the A-frame module, and the workspace module will also be connected to the rear of the B-frame module through a horizontal link. The two lines are fixed, and the connection of ports at both ends is one-to-one. The two lines are connected through the front-end ports of frame a and frame B. all jumper work only occurs at the front-end port of frame a of distribution frame B.


The construction cost of this connection mode is slightly higher than that of direct connection mode, but the increase proportion is limited compared with the whole distribution cost. Moreover, the cross connection mode can realize end-to-end complete link detection, especially whether there is a connection or jump connection error at the switch end, which can save a lot of time when the administrator troubleshooting; It effectively avoids the port plugging error on the network switch, reduces the direct operation of the network system on the switch, and greatly improves the reliability of the system. This method is recommended in tia-568d standard and has been widely used in most projects in Europe and America.
